I'm surprised more people here did not know these would be so hot. It is THE key date, and the next lowest mintage sells for over a grand.

It seems like a lot of people don’t care about modern coins from the mint. I was lucky to find out about it.

Most moderns I couldn't care less. But a new key date silver eagle?? It was a no brainer! I love when the mint does stuff like this!

Lowest mintage silver eagle ever. The next lowest mintage goes for over a grand, so I doubt this one will ever go near issue price again.

OK, you mean lower than the 1995-W, got it.

The thing is to buy that coin -- which I guess sold for $10 ? Silver was $5 -- you had to spend $1,000 which meant paying 100x the actual cost even though you could sell the gold coins for most of the differential.

But the coin sells for maybe $1,000 ungraded....$3,000 PF69 and $10,000 PF70. So 300-1,000x what the coin should cost solo.

Now...you are paying about 8x cost but like the 1995-W craze, who knows how long the premium maintains itself ?

It has been my experience that, in the age of the Internet and social media, that artificial scarcity premiums for new stuff FADES over longer-periods of time, it doesn't maintain or go up. Others here may have examples that I have missed, feel free to post them.

If you NEED the coin because of a collection, then I guess you are price-insensitive. For me, I'd LIKE to have it but I don't NEED it. So like the 2013, if the price comes closer to what I think is fair value, I'll buy it. I'm not afraid of paying $600 and then seeing it worth $200 in 2021....$400 isn't going to make or break me as with most of you. It's just a question of necessity.

I may want a hot dog on the road I sometimes take back from the mall, but if the guy is selling it for $10, I'll pass. :D

My favorite responses so far are the: "I've been collecting ASE for 30 years and I didn't get one. I'll quit collecting them." Entitled much? Once the butthurt wears off, these people will be buying one at whatever price this settles.

I saw the hubbub surrounding these and anticipated the site crashing (still let out a few choice words while playing with the cashier). With a 30k limit on a very popular series, a 15 minutes sellout was a blessing; I expected it to be <5 min. I'd a think the site crash probably leveled the playing field a little- preventing people from ordering multiples to different addresses in rapid procession.

They were wrong. It took over 10 minutes for me to get through and get one.

Ditto. Took me 10 minutes and many failed attempts to check out.

Did anyone have an issue where your saved credit card information didn't automatically populate?

Yes, that is a common thing on these hot items. It basically takes a little while for it to pop up. Mine was about a 10 second delay for it to load.

Once "currently unavailable" I certainly logged off. Nothing convenient about it, lol.
