Constantine, the young noble caesar, was only 9 years old when this nummus was struck in 325 - same year as the London mint was closed down. ================= Constantine II, as Caesar 317-337; Æ Nummus (19.5mm, 2.33g, 6h), London, 325; CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C, laureate draped and cuirassed bust right / PROVIDENTIAE CAESS, camp gate with 5 stone layers, two turrets, without doors, star above, PLON in exergue; CT 10.02.004 CC, RIC 296.
Great coins, all! I really want to add a London coin to my collection. I think that's what I am going to be on the look out for tomorrow at the Whitman show.
Your top one is very nice, clear. I like his crest! The bottom radiate, draped one is marked as 'S' for scarce in Cloke and Toone reference.
Nice coins! I only have two London mint ancients, here is Constantine II: Constantine II Æ 18 (322-323 A.D.) Here’s is Constantius I as Caesar AE Follis, that I believe is from the London mint. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
