So I set up an account and had my wife and daughter do one also and we were all waiting on 11:00 today to get one of the silver eagles. When it hit 11 I had one in my cart and went to check out the dang website went down!!! When it came back up 2 mins later they were gone . just was wondering if any one else scored one !
bad thing is that the web site did not see that I changed my shipping to next day so now I have to wait even longer to get it cuz its shipping at the 4.95 rate witch is I think 15-30 day shipping
I picked budget shipping because I'm cheap. Do you want the coin for next day for certification or something? And what's the difference between submitting the coin immediately and waiting until later?
It took a few tries but I was finally able to order one when all of a sudden, BOOM! At the confirmation part I received a message that the credit card was INVALID. This is such NONSENSE by the US Mint. I used this card to buy the 2019 Silver Proof Set and the 2019 Proof SAE. (The card expires 8/23) When I entered the info for another card, I received a message: OOPS! this item is no longer available. Needless to say I am voicing my complaint to the US Mint by email and when the lines open up I'll do it over the phone. I am also opting out of the Mint's enrollment program. It's too bad Coin Talk has a policy re language because without a few prohibited words I can't express how I really feel about the Mint and it's total disregard for the individual collector. Thanks for allowing me to vent as I had to get this out of me somehow. This is the proverbial straw that broke my back. No more buying from the US Mint. It's not the anger speaking, I've been thinking about cutting myself loose from the Mint for a long time. EDIT I am on the notification list for the US Mint's products and I received the notification 22 minutes after it went on sale. (12:22 EST).
I bought my first coins from the mint in 1959 (1959 Proof Set). I was not interested in this last offer and stopped buying commemoratives from the mint a couple of years ago. And, I stopped my AE collection. All I have left is to compose a termination letter to the mint.
I was made aware of it from an email from MonumentMetals offering me $100 to be their shill and buy my alloted 'one'.
the same thought that was funny @sergeant, no I am sending it in to get c.o.a through pgcshttps://www.pcgs.com/news/pcgs-announces-dual-encapsulation-coa and can't open the box when I get it so now I have to wait even longer to see it I WANT TO SEE IT
Do I have to have a paid PGCS Club account and should I call the Mint customer service to change to 1-day? I nothing about modern collectible coins and never had a coin worth grading before.
Dave's sent me a simliar email offering $121. I wanted one for my husband but got locked out. I was signed in and tried at one second past noon. I smell a rat.
I would doubt that this coin in a TPG plastic would be worth any more than without the plastic. There is nothing to grade unless it is virtually perfect and will get a 70. First Release, First Strike, etc. do nothing to the value of the coin in the real collecting world as they are only marketing gimmicks.
Same. They notified me that it went on sale via email at around 12:15. I did not subscribe to auto ordering and wonder if those who did received confirmation. I did request to be notified if they become available again, but I won't hold my breath. I put the coin in my basket at one second past noon and then the site crashed, I was signed in with my payment method already to go. Dealer's got people to shill for them and many people who would not ordinarily order were promised a vig for their coins. Oh well.
They are selling on ebay for quite a premium. As a collector, it makes me a little miffed. That said, if I had been one of the lucky one, I wouldn't have resold it, but I would have been very happy. Good for you!
