Coin Album

Well as you know I have been sorting my Lincon cents and buying some more for the collection, so I decided to look for a album that would take all my cents and I found one for $32.99 a Dansco 8100 Album for Lincoln Cents with slipcase . Then I enquired about the shipping to the UK LOL that was $30 So that means a total cost of $69.99 for the album then I will be hit for import duty and post office collection charges so that idea is out of the window Back to my little Numis album I think, not as nice but a lot cheaper.

De Orc; Dansco albums not sold in the UK? Bummer, and a bit pricey for you to import yourself.

 

Actually you might want to check with your local coin dealer and see if they have them. It may be surprising with what you can possibly find. Mine did but I didn't agree with the price.

 

Had a look but they dont have this one, they have them in like a couple of sections 1909 to 1959 then 1960 onwards (think I got that right) this one goes from 1909 to 2016 or there abouts in one album and those two cost a lot more than this one LOL

This might be dumb idea but why not keep posting all over the place on forums like this for possibly not wanted coin albums. Possibly there are those dealers that would just give them to you for postage. The reason I mention this is my own experiences with coin dealers and albums. I've been going to coin shows for many, many years and never thought of asking until a few years ago. I asked some dealers what they did with any albums they may have purchased for the contents. Most said they did purchase albums for the contents, placed the coins in 2x2's or sent in for slabbing and actually threw the albums away. Two dealers told me they just kept them and expected to throw them away someday but if I wanted them, they would just give them to me. One dealer at the next coin show brought me two large boxes of albums of various types and brands. I took them all and for free. I only use Whitman Classic Albums so I gave away the Danscos, Littletons, etc to other collectors I know. I now have well over 100 such Albums and probably only purchsed 20 or so myself previous to this method.
If you constantly mention your interested to coin dealers, you too may find someone that will just send them to you for postage. Nothing to loose by asking.

 

I just got a reply to my shipping cost question to the other Ebay Seller with the Album you wanted and they said $31.00, so that's probably the one you already dealt with.

I'm glad you were able to get the item you wanted without getting soaked for shipping. :thumb:

I am saying my dear ORC translated into Orcish for you that for the love of god dont put your beloved coins in an album if you want to get rid of them i will gladly take them but i would hate to see you spoil your collection with your own bare hands. Albums are the worst way to store coins you have to use your fingers to put the coins in and use your fingers to take the coins out. I thought i voice my opinion frankly as you are a dear friend.

 

Why on earth would they be spoilt by putting them in a Album? You have heard of cotton gloves I hope!!! after all tell me how you put coins in airtights, flips etc?
