As my submissions start to arrive, grades via email, I am in trouble.

My 1st thread with the TueView was a no brainer, I already knew the grade and just submitted for a reholder ( new...no scratches ) and the picture.

Now, I received a bunch of grades from the 1st batch of raw coins submitted, and am thrilled. Out of 10 coins, 8 graded as expected and 2 went beyond expectations( coins I had graded as CH-AURB came back as MS-63RB ). I check my email for the rest every day.

The scary part is I have already sent another 10 in, and am packing more. A year ago I was sooooo anti PCGS, and now I'm addicted. I hate to admit to myself, but after show after show, and logging results of raw vs slabbed, I can justify the $18 or $30 expense per coin in prices realized.

Is there a 12 step program? I need help folks. To quote Stans dad from Southpark....." You don't understand, I have a disease" LOL:rolling:

I honestly like it because you know you have a certain graded coin. However the prices are outragous.

Oh woe is me - alas ! :( I had so hoped it would never happen :( Please say it isn't so Jack - you drank the Koolaid ?? - not you Jack, not you :(

There is only one hope, you must give up Lincolns and forego collecting them. You'll have to switch to world gold now. Only the power of the darkside can save you :secret:

Here, quick, look at this -

    Yes Doug.
I have been chatting with our friend Doogy, the CU Darksider about world gold. I have until end of July to determine what to do with a matured CD. Anything would be better than the bank rates I am sure. I LOVE the world gold, and Doogy is in my coinclub as well, I can always pick his and your expertise when I am ready.

If you go to the darkside our paths will soon cross. i now feel the disturbance in the force. Gold leads to the darkside. You must resist all temptation from the sith lord and the only way to do that is to take all your coins and deposit them in the jedi temple under master spock :D May the force be with you

Oh, he knows how to grade his Lincoln's, lol. :D Two things probably happened:

Jack mistaked light wear for something else, possibly.

Or, PCGS goofed on their end.

Seeing Jack in action though sometimes, and how he knows Lincolns, I'd probably go with the latter. :thumb:

GDJMSP has pointed out, as have other professionals like Zaneman, CaveTroll and ShortGapBob, that PCGS " market grades "

I had (2) 1909-S CH-AU RB Lincolns on my site that I had priced at or near 63 levels, because that was the " market " value, but in an effort to grade as honestly as possible, I call them CH-AU, and they are technically CH-AU.

The MS-63 grade on the holder is fair and acceptable to some, and a sore spot to others. I will not go there.

On my circ coins, my CH AU BROWN's all came back as 55 or 58, and my choice XF's came back as 45, just as I had hoped. My GEM RD came back as 65 RD, and my CH-BU came back as 64RB, again, just as I had hoped.

I consider myself lucky, not an expert grader, but it does, I admit, feel good.

so you are trying to tell me that i wont get rich by buying 63 svdbs from you at 58 prices?

Cold turkey's the only way to go. Or you could try the anti-Pavlov method: get a pushpin and prick yourself every time you have the urge to waste your money bu submitting something to PCGS; eventually you'll associate the urge to submit coins to them with physical pain and will avoid it.
