Anyone has any statues of emperors and ancient deities or famous works of art?

A little off topic, but not really as you guys are the prime audience for this stuff... Do you guys have any statues of Roman emperors, or classical deities, Greek statues, etc in your houses and offices? I've recently been trying to obtain a few and could use some tips where to find them.

So far I got a 11 inch replica of the Augustus prima porta statue in the mail, which will be in a corner of my office. I'm looking for a few additional emperors and also some replicas of famous works of antiquity. Doesn't have to be anything expensive.... In fact my new statue is only $47. It just has to look good (ie. classical). No fancy modern interpretation or fantasy statues.

Here's the Amazon photo for it...

Anyway, here's an Augustus to keep it legal....

PS: Show me some of your statues and coins that go with them. Also let me know where you go for your ancient statues needs.

That's a cool she wolf, but the she wold statue in Rome has been found to be a medieval creation.

Perhaps. I understand that the She-Wolf was originally Etrurian in design, and that Rom & Rem were later added.

I have this plaque of Actaeon being attacked by his own dogs. It brings me comfort when I'm having a bad day. It came from the Salvation Army for a buck or so.

It is based on a red figure vase c. 470 B.C. in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, according to this site: https://www.theoi.com/Gallery/K6.1B.html

What I really want is a full-size reproduction of the Colossus of Constantine to prop up against the front of the house - his head preferably, but I'd take a foot or an elbow or a pointing hand. Let me know if any come up cheap.

I have the same Augustus of Prima Porta statue as you got, @Sallent! I like it a lot. I also got a bust based on the Apollo Belvedere at a thrift shop for next to nothing. Both of them look over my (messy) artifacts cabinet:

Although the old adage suggests that money can't buy happiness,
it allows to choose the kind of misfortune that you prefer...

I have enjoyed playing with 3D printers at the local library and have made a few plastic replicas of museum files posted online using 'marble' PLA plastic which looks reasonably 'real'. In this photo you have to ignore the dragon dining on dragon. That leaves Septmius Severus and Julia Domna.

When I was in Mexico in '86, I bought a replica statue bust of Moses from a street vendor (the guy was literally standing in the middle of the street, hawking his wares to passing cars).

I guess it was based on the Michelangelo work. It looked kind of like this, showing Moses with horns on his head, but was made of somewhat cheaper materials (plaster, I suppose).

Though cheap, it was handsome. It was of a pretty decent size, and looked nice on my bookshelf. I had it for years, but no longer do. I don't remember what happened to it. Might have been lost in a move.

Any chance you could give me a £800,000 loan with 50 years repayment plan so I can buy that Hadrian?:p

Really interesting. I was reading an essay recently that positioned Moses as a Levite and member of the Lu (bull) devotees, who used bull and man-faced bull iconography to represent Yahweh. Perhaps Jerome was not mistaken in his translation of the Herbrew after all! Apparently, Moses was often depicted with horns in Medieval times--I just picked up a book on the subject and can't wait to read into it.

Don't worry, it's been delivered from the dreaded BD.

It's from the 2nd-3rd century AD and was found in Cordoba, Spain.
