Alright guys and gals here is the weekly update. We have officially hit over a full roll of silver at 41. Not going to lie kinda disappointed I wanted to average one per box but at the rate we are going we should be over 10 rolls of silver when this is done! And if we look at the stats we are on track to hit a full roll of V nickels as well! And it looks like we just might hit a full roll of 42Ds. Only three dates away from completing a full set 38D,39D,and a 39S. Id be interested to see if we can find these dates before 100 boxes are done.

On a side note 2 of my Chase banks will no longer be contributing to my hobby :(. One Chase closed and the other was turned into a self serve cafe station. Pretty much you walk in and two employees guide you on a computer station. Pull money out make deposits etc. I asked the manager about my nickel boxes he informed me they do not do change orders anymore. The scary thing is some Chase managers from other locations insist this is the route Chase wants to go. Computers lined up everywhere and a couple employees to guide you on the computer until you learn the software.

So now with two less boxes per week I have to bribe my credit unions to order 2 extra boxes for me. Big giant batch of cookies should do the job :)

I think that the 500 box/Million Nickel challenge would be pretty incredible to execute, but not paramount to restrict to a single year. You may have to expand that deadline a bit. Even at a box a day, it's an incredible pace to try and maintain. As I do a bunch of variety hunting, I might be able to do 2 boxes a week...not 7. So cookies or not, adjustments might need to be made which shouldn't lessen the interest.

PS - my bet is that you will find the 3 missing nickels in the next 50 boxes. And it's my experience that you'll get a couple boxes with increased levels of 'goodies' (silver, V nickels, Buffalo). That usually tilts the numbers back towards level.

I took my Teller Donuts and coffee today. THAT WORKED!!!!

Just finished my 3rd box. A Buffalo, early dates, and some nice stuff. I will try to finish tomorrow. Kevin has a point. It is a lot of work.

1964 sure did make a lot of nickels!!!

They made 1964 nickels through 1967. Crazy amount of nickels. It's kind of interesting to wonder if the 1964 that's in hand is really 55 years old or just 52.

That really sucks about chase. One of my credit unions did that too. Only use them for the car payment though.

On a happier note, I wanted to share the beauty that popped out of a nickel roll tonight!

Man the stuff you pull brother that 39 is gorgeous with decent step detail as well. The 38s were known to have strong strikes and the 39s had average strikes at best so that 39 is nice!

Yeah it is a lot of work but thank God it is fun! I usually average around 360-400 boxes a year anyways. Just wanted to try a Million nickels in one year to see if I could do it. You guys don't worry I got a magnifier on me at all times and am always looking for the major DDR/DDOs and of course a few of the nice RPMs

Decided from now on when I get boxes with customer wrapped rolls I would replace them with machine wrapped rolls and build a Frankenstein box of mixed customer wrapped rolls. Thought it would be fun to open 50 rolls of collected customer wraps to see how a box would be. Started today and will update every week with the Master list. Once the box has 50 rolls I will open them.

That's a good idea. sounds like fun. I always get sealed boxes and all are machine rolled. When I buy individual rolls I sometimes ask for customer wrapped. Tis the season!
One has to wonder how many times you get nickels you already searched back in Loomis rolls. I dump my nickels in a counting machine at my bank. They go to Loomis and get re-rolled and distributed. Gotta figure over the course of a year you are seeing the same nickel a few times at least.

Yeah I do sometimes wonder that when I get slim pickens in a box. Was thinkIng maybe take a day and drive to the other side of town and try a bunch of new locations and ask for boxes.

Box 2. What made this box noteworthy is the number of BU/ AU coins $1.50 in 2004 Lewis and Clark nickels. Plus another 60 cents in other dates. This box also produced that nice 1936 S RPM buffalo. And 1. 1943 S War nickel.

Just got don sorting through what I saved out of the last 3 boxes. I ended up w 3 rolls of 2004 P Peace Nickels 1 roll is BU. Also ended up with a roll of 2004 D's of which 3/4's are BU. All the BU's are from box 2 which makes me think I got part of a collection dump.
