So I've had this for a while cause I liked the toning, but I looked a little closer and I'm wondering if the toning was caused by, well a torch is my first guess. Thanks for your time, and I question this because there's blisters all over the coin. Obverse and reverse and I am somewhat thinking it may have been played? Let me know!
Was it stored in that plastic case? Was there something in the case to hold the coin in place? The toning looks almost normal and I'm wondering if the spots are from PVC.
I'm wondering if the coin was subject to heat. That might be the cause for the toning and the blisters.
Yes it's been in that case, I was just going through coins and putting them in 2x2s, but I have other coins with PVC on them and these are the same color as the coin, not white like my others
Since the coin is 90% silver, why would it "blister" upon heating? Clad, maybe yes, but solid 90%, I don't think so.
This is why I come to you guys, that never crossed my mind.. so is it possibly plated? I cant weigh it my scale broke..
