i would say it is a counterfeit. Look at the arm, holding the branches. Looks like a very weak strike from the pictures. The 'We' looks pretty close to the 'God' and 'Trust' as well. With 3 days and $16, i think others think it's a fake as well.

I think the coin is real and what you're seeing is just the way the coin's been photographed...Mike

It looks genuine to me and if you look at a few other Motto's, I think they will appear similar.

Ok, thanks. Maybe I am just paranoid buying from just a picture.

my own opinion is that if you have doubts about a coin dont buy it. sure a specialist will tell you if its real or not but get a specimen that you feel happy with it. in the end we wont be paying for the coin nor will it be part of our collection :)

It's alway risky...anytime you buy uncertified on e-bay you take a chance. Mark worked for a TPG service and his opinion holds water.

I apologize in advance if I am mistaken, but believe that those two items are genuine, as well. I don't advocate buying those types of uncertified coins off of Ebay anyway, and think they are poorly imaged, but real.

the coin looks authentic, maybe mistrike garbled words? what bothers me is this...the seller should post a close-up of area in question, seller should post rim area to allow persons to see edge lettering. the seller does not mention the coin is .900 gold and contains nearly one troy ounce. could this be a minature St Gaudens coin?

The seller says NOT responsible for coin after shipment, thats a crock he is responsible for delivery regardless. The seller doesnt boast about coins authenticity, seller doesn't seem to know what he's selling. Sorry, but this one gets a maybe label. :) ozark

    Fake?

Doesn't look fake to me either. I agree with the faulty photography method school of thought in this thread. Also, his other coins appear to be genuine.

He has good feedback as well.

IMO the seller has some nice looking coins. My biggest bone to pick would be his item descriptions. In the days of TPG's you don't help yourself by listing items as "Superb BU" or "GEM UNC"
He is only doing himself a disservice and therby limiting bids to the MS 60 price range.

I assume with his discription, and along with photos most people would agree that somer of his coins are UNC, but I would not pay above MS 60 prices for a coin on ebay unless they were graded, or properly described.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, because I don't understand it how it works, but one or more of the links posted in this thread contained the word "rover" in the URL address - I thought that had something to do with people getting paid for each hit? Could someone explain to me how that works and the implications? Thanks.

Although I didn't see any rover links, I believe you are correct, Mark -- it's a redirector that tracks traffic -- typically for payment to the one directing you to take a link, although it can be used for simple tracking as well...Mike
