I am looking for help in regards to cleaning my 1901s USA quarter. I found this quarter about 15 years ago in a parking lot, which was being torn up. I know that this is the rarest of quarters so I want to make sure that it is taken care of just right. I am planning on getting it graded and than sold on Ebay. It is not in the greatest shape, but it also is not in the worst shape either. There is a small black mark across the back of the coin, which looks like a scuff mark, but it does not come off with soap and water (which I tried 12 years ago). What is the best way to clean this quarter so that I do not damage the coin and be able to get a descent grade? Also, is there a way to clean my quarter and still get a passing grade through a coin grading company such as PCGS?
Christlike, Don't clean your coin anymore than you already have. It is my understanding that PCGS will not grade cleaned coins. You may want to consider sending your coin to ANACS to have it net-graded. Remember, any further attempts to clean your coin will only result in further damadge. Jody
