Hi. I just bought a $5 National Currency note tonight. I've seen these listed for gobs of small towns and cities and I know values can really fluctuate depending on where they came from. What books are available to research specific value on these notes? Thanks. PS--For those that are curious, it's from Worcester, Mass. I just found one on eBay with the auction already over that went for $120. The one I bought from my local shop looks very similar on the front and a bit better on the back...I paid $82 for mine, so I'm happy.
Any chance that you can post a pic of it? hopefuly Rickie will be along before too long and be able to give you some info on price guides it's his area so to speak LOL
One of the leading people/researchers in this area is Mr. Don C. Kelly, he has a website; www.donckelly.com there you can find his book on National Bank Notes in the latest edition for $65 or so.... As De Orc mentioned, we need pic's please. RickieB
Hey, I was kind of hoping you'd post again since I added the pics. Does it look like a decent deal for $82? Also, I checked the website you mentioned, but it looks like he's sold out of some of his books. Any other places to check? Thanks.
Klunky... Been on the road alot and get tired easily than before..LOL The pic is fine however, scans can hide some marks and light folds easily. The image is slightly out of focus on the edges at all 4 corners. The note looks XF to XF+ to me based on what I see. Currently in Nashville, TN and will be home on Thurs. Nice note.....and I would say you paid a fair price for it at $82... RickieB
