Because it's the FIRST one reported, it' unique(one of a kind) and therefore it must be worth thousands.I must get it slabbed and auction it quickly before more are found and the price drops. I would have posted it sooner except I had to rush out buy another camera. My old one ran out of film.I know you are anxious so here it is. Notice the doubling on the top right side of the R-liberty. It's not as exciting as all those doubled tree parts on the now famous state quarter, but it is HUGE... See for yourself.
2008 Ddo All I could see in the loop of the R was reflections. The bottom of the E and both sides of the T and the ends of the Y are notched. And the left bottom of the B,but the notches are tiny.
It does look from the pics like the doubling is coming out at you. I'll say some sap will be willing to pay a premium for this.
Yes its worth thousands because the loop of a tiny "R" on a common cent being a micrometer thicker than normal is extremely significant.
I hope you enjoyed the satire.I'm not a lincoln DD nut. When I got this cent in change I thought, hey, this might be a real DDO.So I wrote my story with tongue in cheek. I considered the possibility that it was just a hit on the ""R". Further examination revealed no remnents of an R in the loop. but I did find split seraphs on parts of LIBERTY. I think it is a minor error. The SLAB & MONEY parts were jokes.
'08 Ddo I agree with you. Maybe by discussing this openly, we can save some one from being burned. I can see the tiny notches, but my 4 Meg. camera doesn't show them well. I will attempt to post a couple medium sized photos that try to show the notches. Next week.....8 MEGS.
