My Gpa was a Navy man. He served on DD800 USS Porter. I'd really love to hear more about your fathers service,If you are so inclined. If not I completely understand.
He never talked about his time in the service but I know that he built airstrips in the South Pacific islands and was based, I believe, in New Caledonia. Due to a spine injury, he was medically discharged before the end of the war. I, on the other hand, am an Air Force veteran.
He might have served with my other Gpa that was a Marine. His service is .... well very hard to trace even with the DD214. My nephew and his best friend are current AF, My father was in the Marines during Nam and retired AF. Anywho I thank you for your service!
I love the personal stories. Im going to set up something in the discussion area. Some of you guys are more interesting than coins lol! Edit..LOL! someone already nailed it a minute ago!!!! You guys are great!
@2manyhobbies, @Mountain Man, Someone should start a new thread on this military subject. It's very interesting and others here could contribute.
It is REALLY unlikely the heat of the dryer would make the devices mushy, unless the temperature in your dryer is a couple thousand degrees, which is not going to do good things to your clothes. More likely the mushy appearance is from dirt and grit trapped in there as well, causing wear on the surfaces as it tumbles with the coin.
