Hello all. Meow has been CRH quarters this week and found some what Meow has read possible doubled dies. They are VERY faint, and it is not PMD. Meow sees doubling in the inverted V between Washington's ear and hair. Meow thinks it is the pattern of the hair doubling. One has three lines, (First photo) and the other only has 2 lines (photo 2, 3, and 4) and is a lot harder to see. What do you guys think?

Also a very obvious DD on a Mount Rushmore quarter.

I think that there are 3 types of doubling..
First - Doubled Die which is a true Doubled variety
Second - Worthless Doubling such as MD - Machine Doubling and DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling..

Then third - WTHAYTA which stands for What The Heck Are You Talking About? doubling.

Wait a minute - I'm to old for all these multi-letter acronyms. When they pop up I have to inquire as to what they mean. I just found out what FIFY means.

So you guys don't see the extra tic or tics of a lines in the space between his ear and hair? You guys do know what Meow is referring to right? If not Meow can draw and arrow to it.

I don't see the doubling in the hair,But it's still a keeper with the nose doubling. Looks like 001 or 003 to me! Nice find. I have 2 of the 4,Trying to finish the collection! 2013-P_25___SD_WDDR-01-4.jpg

That's the problem with high magnification. You start seeing things that mean nothing. It looks like PMD from a hit, IMO.

Meow may actually have something, what she show does look a lot like what some of these tilted die single squeeze doubled dies produce. But to me they are so minor and so many of them seem to be produced that I can't get excited over them

Meow will look for Wexler matches.

Ha Ha! Meow has found a match! Meow did not mention what state or mint the coins in question where found. It just so happens that the one with the three tics is a P mint North Carolina quarter. (The first pic) So see, cat's can find good things too!
    2001-P 25¢ NC WDDO-001

Description: Extra hairlines show just to the right of Washington’s ear. The secondary image is from a hubbing that was rotated sharply and started forming the hairlines SE of the ear prior to the hub or die snapping back into proper alignment.

Die Markers: Obverse: A small die gouge can be found above the Q in QUARTER. A small die gouge (dot) can be found to the left of the lower 1st L in DOLLAR. Reverse: Two small die gouges can be found to the right of the upper M in UNUM.
