I heard 1955 was a key date for franks. why? also, what are the other key/semi-key dates for them? thanks, stainless
Depends on what you look at as a "key-date". It can be a lot of things personally to me, like mintage key-dates, condition key-dates, strike key-dates, etc. A lot of things factor in, and to really determine a key-date, you have to learn all you can on that certain series. Check out www.coinfacts.org, they list the mintages for Franklin's I believe. Best of luck! :thumb: Phoenix
Years back the key dates in the Franklin series were the 48-P , & 49-S , Now they go by condition rarity , the 53-S - FBL is the biggest key in MS-64 & higher with FBL . rzage
I don't think that the 55 itself is a key date, but rather the 55 "Bugs Bunny" variety is a little harder to get. If I remember right, the 55 may run a littler higher than most in a nice UNC coin, but not out of reach.
The mintage of a little under two and a half million. But it isn't the lowest mintage for the Franklin half. Can you guess what year had the lowest? It's the 1957D with under two million. Figures came from the redbook.
