Even if you win the auction at the opening bid of $0.10 it's $3.90 in shipping. You should be able to find a nice MS (authentic) example for $4.00. I agree, doesn't make sense.

I could see if maybe someone was testing their skills at copying an Ike- but I'd think you would keep it or throw it away. Listing it can't be worth the effort. Heck, I already wasted more than $4 worth of my time on this thread.

    invictus,
maybe the seller is selling the coin for purpose of making contact. If the coin is a good speciman fake, he might offer a list off fake coins that are good specimans and are not stamped replica, an offer to sell direct outside of ebay. :) just a guess! Ozarktravler

Maybe it's to practice tossing up into the air and shooting it.

Thing is, over there in China, even Chinese 1 yuan coins, which is a mere 12 US cent, are counterfeited too. Anything higher than that I presume is profitable.

Yeh, but you gotta put it in a slab first... makes a bigger target and a more spectacular finish.

  13. What's even crazier is when people waster their time to do it as counterfits when dollar bills are so much easier to counterfit (I'd assume anyway-- they don't even have many security features).

Seems pointless to me too. I don't get what the purpose would be.

I had a skit all written out, but I don't think arguing i'm part Chinese and the skit wasn't offensive to me would fly.

That is a sick looking coin, My coins look better and are real. LOL:whistle:(I have ocean front property in Arizona for sale). You can go to bank and ask for rolls of them, If you can buy a rubber band why not that on Ebay.

It's a type 2 bicentennial. You should be able to find an MS-60+ for $1. About 40% of the total IKE production was bicentennials.

I could see the point of a replica rare coin to fill a hole in an album. But this, I have no idea. Sounds like somebody's trying to find a sucker.
