Can anyone recommend a good book for variety nickels? I found the Cherrypicker's Guide (Volume II) in the bookstore, but it doesn't have nickels in it. Were nickels covered in the Cherrypicker's Guide Volume I? If so, is this book still in print. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I have about 10,000 nickels to go through!

The Cherrypickers guide has a few of what they deem the most popular Jefferson Nickel Varieties which is a good guide.
You can go to CONECAonline.org for the TOP 100 variety list and the master listing of RPM's and Doubled dies.
    Recommend:
The Jefferson Nickel RPM Book and update by James Wiles.
The Best of Jefferson Nickels Doubled Dies by John A Wexler and Brian A. Ribar.
Also recommend although not exactly a variety reference: The Jefferson Nickel Analyst (2nd ed.) by Bernard A. Nagengast.

Sorry, assumed you are looking for Jefferson nickel guides. Here is a web site http://www.telecoins.com/books/nickels.html with nickel references. Not sure how their prices are but will give you an idea about what is available.

I agree with the books listed by Nickelman---the only one I haven't been able to get yet is: The Best of Jefferson Nickels Doubled Dies by John A Wexler and Brian A. Ribar.---I hope to add that one to my hoard of books here shortly!

Is that Vol I or Vol II? I couldn't find Vol I on their website.

I wonder why the shortage? Why doesn't the publisher print more copies?

I got this book just before xmas last year, I must say I was not all that impressed with it. Maybe I was expecting more for $32.00 it does have some great pictures maybe it's just me , there is to much about proof coins I am not into proof coins that much.

    Bruce.

About the CP Guide Vo.1. I bought mine a few years ago for under $10. I hear that prices keep going up....but I keep meaning to buy one or two more to put back.

    Bruce and Frank!
Thanks for the info---I had heard that from one place but didn't know if they were just pulling my leg or not. Either way--I'm not going to pay that much for that book....the first reason why is like Bruce said...it's has alot about PF's and also because I have seen a few sell for under $20 :D
