There was a huge fire, so hot that it nearly melted the bedrock. All the water lines in the area had to be dug up and redirected to put out the fire over nearly 2 years. It burned for a long long time. Ruben

Well, he said wasn't copyrighting it, so bone can use it. Everything is automatically copyrighted so I was just poking fun and posted a DMCA take down notice. It means nothing else. Of course, according to this thread, that slabber has copyrighted the American Flag to authenticate these coins, but that would be another discussion. Ruben
Huh? Interesting claim, but not correct. And in that regard, it's quite similar to the stories told by some dealers of "WTC coins" - invent a story that makes the pieces more interesting. Christian
Hmm, are you sure your post was removed by a moderator? Just wondering because elsewhere one of my posts was deleted (or so I thought first) ... but apparently it simply "got lost" due to this: http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=37898 Christian
Peter and I discussed this, and I agree with him that the server nuked my post. So to assign blame where it belongs, the server gets my curses.
SM -- You mentioned that your post was lost for (whatever reason) and I simply could see no justification in this. I mean when a paid vendor can hawk their 'Emotionally Charged-WTC coins' and not ask how others feel, then this sort of response is to be expected... I felt honest responses should be heard and I simply wanted to echo the same sentiments as you chose the appropriate words wonderfully. Take Care Ben
Now just how do you know that 1898 restrike Peso is certified Yanqui free, since wasn't it minted in SF?
Dang I am good, I remember Willieboyd2 posting something about that restrike Peso long ago, and I think on another forum. Great to know I retained the knowledge of that Pesohya:
I have read this entire thread and it seems pretty radioactive in terms of the participants. I have noticed that no one has chimed in and said "Yes, I own one" Yes, this is an emotional topic but I saw one two years ago for $28.00 in my local coin shop case and bought it. Just bought it on a whim and I never looked at it as anything ghoulish, more interestingly historic than anything else, it actually was the first time I ever saw one..that's it and I had $30.00 on me to spend that day for something and bought the only one in the case. I don't sell any coins, I collect them so it was never for profit. I think some people are a lot closer to the attacks that day are still carrying deeper wounds from that day and will for the rest of their lives,as do all. But,I understand Ruben taking issue when a .com site pops up for 9/11 coins.
I own one. 2001 MS69 silver eagle purchased for $40 dollars at coin show. All coins have a history and this coin is to remind me to never forget. I see the day not the coin when I look at it. I also have a couple Katrina Coins they are in 2X2 and marked " From John's House -Pass Christian, MS Hurricane Katrina"
