Nice find. Possibly a left over from the Great American Coin Hunt. It certainly did not fit into a roll like that.
These regularly post at an LCS I go to for about $1-2. From what I've seen, most folks are looking for a date/partial date and 30-60% off center. Bidding on those can run up to about $10. What a terrific pick up though. I wonder if the cashier saw it and thought one second about what it was.
Does not require grading, but that's a great one. Coins generally need to be worth $200 and up to make grading worthwhile. Still a terrific coin.
Really a pile?? Wow mine don’t! About 15-20 errors and alittle high on price!! But have a lot of coins reasonably priced and a couple that..here the op’s coin would go 15-17 realistic
I found a 1945 penny with Lincoln's chin busted perfectly. is this worth any thing. or is this a common error
Same here but they sell at the same range the auction board fetches. They literally have a coffee can filled with off center cents for $1-2. They have a blank planchette on the board now. Asking price is $2. I think the most I’ve paid was for a dime like the OP’s cent. It was the only dime I’ve seen hit the board. I paid $5. Cents and nickels are the main postings. I see some nickels go for around $7, but cents rarely go above $4.
