Ok well @Lehigh96 was spot on for the range it sold for $360. And he was right the slab pics were not as nice. I would have loved to see it in hand. I’m slab pics pretty but not as spectacular no cac and no star which was a surprise. Was a 2010-15 era ngc holder I’d have easily paid the $360 if it looked in hand like the posted it looked interesting though
I will add at $360 I think I could have advanced it a bit. I think it could easily have sold in the $425-475 range. Especially if it got a green bean
Heritage slab shots are typically rough when it comes to luster and their beauty shots are in the territory that I would call “juiced” and I would be willing to bet that the actual appearance of the coin is somewhere in between the two. It’s a pretty coin and definitely worth a 4-5x premium. The lack of star is surprising but NGC is ridiculous with their application of the star. I just crossed a half dozen rainbow toned Jefferson Nickels and not one got a star. I will be discussing this in an upcoming thread when I get the coins back. I will post a new coin sometime tomorrow.
Agreed totally. I’ve bought plenty of coins from them so I’m good at reading the shots. Personally I thought this one had a good chance of being pretty. But not an off the chart monster. I unfortunately have sold a lot of my great toners though I still have a couple left
As to the star I agree. Why they’ll give it to a mundane ms 63 crescent toner but not something nice is beyond me. Part of Why I greatly prefer pcgs anymore

Me 2, I’m a legacy client at Heritage and used to have dozens of rainbow toned Morgan Dollars. All I have left is my best Battle Creek and best Great Falls Morgans.
There are certainly some inconsistencies with the star (and we showed quite a few of those in that star vs no star thread). In this case though, I’m not certain that no star is that egregious of a mistake. If it looks like the Heritage beauty shot, then the star would have been merited. However, if it’s closer to the full slab picture, I could agree with no star. It might be more dull in hand and the break in toning in the area between the chin, neck, and stars could be distracting enough to draw away from the overall appeal.
