I have been to China, and I can tell you unequivocally that they are indeed communist. Have any doubts?

I agree totally, they are going to be our demize.

As for the fake slab, it's just one more reason to buy coins in the raw. most keys are getting out of reach anyway.

Don't blame the Chinese, we need to go look in the mirror for the blame. Our corporations and government exported practically all manufacturing etc. to China and we LET them.

Imagine the powerhouse America could be if it recalled all that outsourced manufacturing and started making things at home again.

But that will never happen... China owns over half the US in one way or another. If manufacturing was recalled, I could see both countries collapsing.

The real problem is that they are not just coming from China. There are people in the US selling them. They may have no idea they are selling fakes, maybe they do. Who knows. But the fact remains this problem is getting worse. The average buyer, even with a good picture is going to trust the seller (US Based) and have no idea they just bid on a PCGS fake.

Sounds like for very expensive, possibly counterfeited gold coins in slabs, or any high priced coins, you should send them in yourself and save the receipt, in order to have a paper trail for proof that it went there and came back to you on said date.

Anything in question should be re-submitted and receipts saved. Sad, but I don't know what else you can do. Really a shame.

Very true, we are bent over backward to let this happen, I just think it's time to wake up and stop it.

Now the Chinese are going to run scared, because now with our economy going down the tubes, you can bet your bottom that theirs is too. When one million homes are in foreclosure and many many more on the horizon, you can guarantee that Americans are not going to have disposable income to buy fake PCGS slabs from China or even real Ipods etc. either.

No two countries have staked so much of their economic viability on one another on such a scale ever before.

The long term implications are wildly unpredictable.

The US consumer and economy is becoming less and less important to the global economy as time goes on. It used to be that US fuel demand would be the primary driver for gasoline prices, but not so anymore, and that's just one small example.

China gets alot of manufacturing because they have a very low corporate tax rate. We in the states have the third or fourth highest tax rate in the world. I know for every dollar I make over $100k they tax at 34%. Then when I go to pay my self I get taxed again. It is not the companies fault for leaving the USA it is out own governments for taxes the hell out of them.

I agree with spock1k, lets not get off topic. I am curious if ebay will remove these China sellers. I doubt it. I sent an email to PCGS suggesting that they block the IP's coming from China. This might at least keep them from checking serial numbers. But I guess there are plenty floating around the net. Sad.

The answer is not to act like the Communists in China and block whole IP ranges, let the fakers see the PCGS site and make their wares. The answer is that online fleabagMarket, that is where the buck should stop. They obviously don't care that this stuff is being pawned off, they are making insertion, FAV fees etc.

I cannot expect that fleabagMarket could actually block these auctions per say, but they sure could shut them down when they are reported. That my friends is where the problem lies. They do NOT shut them down, but for a token small percentage.

Unscrupulous and or uneducated individuals here in the USA by this garbage and then re-market it, again, these auctions are NOT shut down like they should be.

Perhaps PCGS can file a Cease and Desist act? If PCGS can clearly prove their forgeries, surely eBay can be held criminally liable as an accessory to forgery unless they decide to yank the auctions if notified fairly?

Also, what about the real owners of the real coin? Surely they can also sue eBay for any potential profit loss due to these fakes being sold on eBay.

eBay likes to hide behind "We're only a venue" when this comes up, it has many times before. So far they have managed to skirt this because of the "venue" status.

So do you think you should pay 3%? How much is enough for you? Over 100k, huh? You know there are alot of folks who make only a quarter of that raising families and doing the best they can. and they pay thier part of the tax burden without complaint. Maybe the government should dismiss your senators and represenitives. Stop improving on your states roads. Then they can give you back your 34%. Didnt some chowderhead recently post...freedom isnt free? Taxes are your payment for living here.

I don't want to turn this into a political rant, but, I work hard for my meager wages and I DO complain about all the tax dollars that I pay. between income, sales, gas, and other taxes, that does not leave much out of my dollars earned. And the consumer has to absorb the corperate taxes with higher retail. New roads I like, but the government wastes so much money each day it would make your head spin.

They can't follow because they lead. Fake ANACS slabs first appeared in March of 2007 and fake NGC slabs in August 2007. The fake PCGS slabs were the last ones to appear.

They don't even have to be that high priced. One of the coins on the identified fakes list was an 1858-O half dollar in XF.

Actually eBay has been very good about yanking the auctions with the fake PCGS slabs as soon as PCGS reports them to them. They are not quite as fast pulling them from reports by other people. And that isn't to surprising. When Joe Blow tells you something is a fake they have to wonder if he knows what he is talking about. But when the guy who supposedly manufactured it says that it is a fake, they figure he probably know what he is talking about.
