That’s the thing with pareidolia sometimes everyone sees the same anomaly sometimes it’s just one person that sees it. I definitely see the seven as do most people that would look at your coin. Let me ask you this what do you see on my coin? Bet it’s what everyone else sees. That’s pareidolia! Reed.
Yes there is a 7 or a Z but the question is; how did it get there? The answer is not from the Mint. So that means if was done afterwards and it's considered PMD or Post Mint Damage.
Look between the l and a of dollar I have 3 answers could be a pistol or the state of Florida or at first glance the number 3
It is NOT a 7. To me it didn't really even look like a 7 but because it could be confused in part like a 7 I used that nomenclature. If you want to convey what you see to something you are searching for; to correlate it to a symbol of some type to more easily convey what you visually identify with on the surface then you can say it "looks similar to a 7" Here is a 7 on a 1987 Half Dollar Here is your stain or whatever which, when it hit the wings dribbled down the edge of the wing. But one wants to ignore that as it doesn't fit within what one wants to convey it to be. First of all, let's compare your stain: (a) does not drop down in the front enough; (b) has a rise above the top; (c) the top of it isn't flat as it is curve down and up (d) has this extra point protruding out at the top right (e) is straight and not curved going down (f) the base is not correct and doesn't flatten out (g) and it has the dribble from the base going to the right (h) and I'm sure if you were to measure it, it would not fit the size of an actual 7 from an actual half dollar. Just like clouds can look like something, this looks like a 7 in part. It actually looks like an upside down L to me. But hey, it can look like anything we want it to look like. Such as: a left checkmark; lower torso of a guy walking; etc. How does one determine the below picture is not a manufacturing defect? If someone swears it came from the factory/dealership this way? And one was not there during manufacturing nor before they saw it like this? Would you buy it at full value if it ran fine? or pay more as it would be super rare out of the factory ?
that's actually the first and only thing I originally saw. But it's like anything else, if you don't specifically state what your question is we're going to gloss over it looking for something that we think you may possibly want us to maybe look at but we're not really sure because it may not really be very obvious. What do you think of that between the L and A ? I think I see sideways L with a leaf on top that caught fire and burnt away.
I was hoping she'd guess that ... editops Just realized, I thought she was a different Rachel that should have known more.
What @Fred Weinberg said...and all the other expert textperts...just stains...it is a 1984-P AU58 at best...Spark
I assume that you are asking me, but you didn't quote my post. Thank you! As I said, my avatar coin was produced in a matte finish specifically for the 2-coin Robert F. Kennedy Commemorative Set. No, not all Kennedy S mints are 90% silver. A couple are 40% silver; some are clad proofs, and in other years both 90% silver proofs and clad proofs were made. You can refer to the Red Book for the specific years. Chris
You can spend 4 days asking every dealer at the FUN Show for their opinion, and I'll be willing to bet that they will (politely) tell you that it is nothing. You've already had one of the foremost error dealers in the country, Fred Weinberg, tell you that it is just a stain. What more do you need? Chris
That will be great! I'm looking forward to meeting you. And it's not that I don't believe you, I just stated that I will be taking it to the show since I'm already going anyway. But this will be my last time posting on anything. I will be withdrawing my membership. You people are rude! I thought this was a chance to learn from some of the best.. not continually being made to feel like an ass @cpm9ball @Clawcoins
FYI ..Mr Weinbergs response was after I said I was going to take my coin to Orlando. But isn't it nice that he will be there.. I can't wait!
@Rachel Perez Bye bye darling, your right maybe you’re just not cut out for this forum or the hobby. If you don’t listen your ignorance shows. You might not waste your money going to the show there going to tell you the same thing everybody here has been trying to tell you so you’ll be wasting their time as well. Sorry to be rude but I tried and I take offense to your attitude. Reed.
