    The '38-D Walker is one of the most overrated"rarities" in US coins. Just like '37-D 3-legged Buffalo nickels.
    I have found several of these in junk halves.

    Look through a dozen bags of 90% silver halves.

    with a mintage of just over 400,000 and auction prices for this grade I don't feel like I paid too much. If you can find them for melt than more power to you.

    I don't collect these, or anything US by date. I collect by type, and AU58 or higher.
