Is this a dropped element error? There is an "I" or "1" over an "S" in Roosevelt's head. Any thoughts? I am learning guys. Thanks!

No. For starters, that isn't even the right size.

The "I" and "S" in "In God we trust" and the "1" in the date are comparable in size.

    No. They are not.
FWIW, if whatever it is you are seeing is raised, it is most likely a die chip. Roosevelt dimes are plagued with die chips in the hair area for some reason.

I never seen a die chip that perfectly forms a letter and/or number. That's unique in itself and is a keeper.

Die chips doesn't have defining characters.

All circulation damage is unique to each coin.

There are trillions and trillions of coins in circulation, and there is no telling how many of those coins have die breaks or even post-mint damage on them. Please let us know when you have examined all of the coins in circulation. Only then, can you state without reservation, "I have never seen a die chip that perfectly forms a letter and/or number."

I can't help it if he doesn't use the "Quote" function so we know which post he is answering, but he has argued against comments by others that the anomaly is not what they claim. Therefore, I challenge him to prove that a die chip does not exist that perfectly forms a letter or number.

If you have never seen a die chip in the form of a letter and/or number you can't say definitively that it is a die chip. That's why we post examples of said error. I never seen one; you never seen one. Where is the proof? Some of you say PMD because you can't elaborate on it for lack of knowledge.

    You prove that it does.

To tell a new collector that it is PMD with no explanation is wrong and does not help anyone.

It's clear that you are only here to argue about something you don't understand or even wish to learn. You have posted nothing that's true.

You say you're a new collector, yet tell everyone they're wrong. What's wrong with this picture?
