Counterfeit 100

This walked thru my shop today. Very bad counterfeit attempt to say the least. Not sure what the Chinese symbol means,any attempt at a translation is appreciated. Just thought I'd share.

What do you do when that happens?

 

I hold the bill and call the police. In this instance i genuinely believe the customer had no clue he gave me a fake,he is a regular in my shop.The officer let him go after some questioning and the customer lost 100$,the bill was confiscated

 

Those Chinese characters on the reverse are kind of a tell. Lol

 

...and you took a picture of it before the police took it?

 

What would be the point of those Chinese characters?

 

Of course I did! Lol,being a collector myself I couldn't pass on the opportunity.

 

I didnt notice the Chinese at first,the feel of the paper itself was the giveaway for me,it literally feels like computer paper. I knew as soon as it hit my hand it was fake.

 

It is "training money", used by Chinese bank tellers to learn counting and tending US currency.

 

Why wouldnt they just use real money? Ive seen fake bills that are marketed as "stage money" for movies and soforth. I think its BS. Part of me believes the Chinese are so arrogant that do this its probably their "tag" or something.

I hate it because your friend loses all that money which was probably "earned". Totally lost. You the merchant lose out too. I absolutely cringe at counterfeiting and how lax law enforcement is about it at times.

 

Some of these are "Hell Money" to be put in the caskets of dead friends and family so they can have money in the afterworld.
Not meant to be counterfeitsbto spend, just copies.

LoL!!! What?? Are you kidding me? The Chinese are the ones actually counterfeiting our currency and proliferating it worldwide!!

 

The translation is

"present this coupon at any China Wok for free egg roll or won ton".

 

I wouldn't want to be the one trying to pass off a counterfeit to the devil.

Fake money, Ghost Money, used to celebrate Qingming Festival. Burning real money in Asia is considered bad luck.

I would imagine these fake $100 USD could be bought in China Town, San Francisco and other types of locations.

 

You can buy these "training" notes in all denominations up to $100 on eBay. The ones I have seen have much larger Chinese character on both sides. These are great fun when when crumpled up a bit and tossed on the sidewalk. Watch people go for them. Different approaches to picking them up without bringing attention to themselves makes for interesting people watching.

 

Give me a stack of those....LOL

 

Apparently I'm the only Chinese guy on this forum.

The characters are: "dao4 ju4 zhau1 yong4" which roughly translated to "stage property dedicated"

Or something along the lines of "made for training purposes" or basically "prop money"

 

I get your point. Thanks for the feedback and clarification. To me it's like a joke. It's a oxymoron! A contradictory terms.
