Rlm.... I found your 24-D in a 63 RB PCGS holder,it was only 3X bid, lol $1100, and another dealer had a 64RB for $2900, so it was not happening. I tried tho, it was not an easy task picking up nice MS coins at this show anywhere near sheet levels, it was just beyond logic. Did not see a single 24-S in plastic at all, and the raw one I saw was a washed out dipper. I did add a cpl PCGS 24-D's XF to my roster at well above ask, but my main pickup was a 1955 DDO, NGC 55BR, a sweetie for sure. I'm going to hang out with Clembo tonight in the backyard BBQing, we'll check in later.
That is the prices I saw also, but at least mine were 65's. I guess that I should have bought that one on Heritage, but I had too many irons in the fire at the time for a better one. It was ANACS 62BR, but it went for less that $100. Hey! Thanks for trying!!
buying on heritage is like buying in the stock market you cant leave the cop screen going the show makes it diifcult to buy even the 1804 was bought online
i lost two auctions because it went to quick , as soon as they showed and i aproached to the bid button and bang gone... but luckily i didnt bid on them because i would of had quite a big invoice lol My mum bidded on a coin for fun just to increase it and for a second we though we won it, she is like *s..uger* and in the last second it almost doubled lol
a few quick pics, more to come tommorow. The first is Acanthite on the right, Clembo in the middle and me on the left, outside the LB convention center Outside our hotel in Hollywood: and Clembo the Movie Star:
Yes, at that show, or this market in general, it was a good deal. MS-60 bid for an AU in a slab, not too shabby, and the spreads only $150. Jack Beymer wanted $2350 for the same coin in the same holder in the same grade. Edit, to avoid any confusion, Clembo's on the laptop, Im on the PC.....
Jack Beymer - Should have looked there for the 24-D & S. They are the ones who had the ones I saw in Texas
I did, he did not have them. I cannot remember the dealers who had them, there were about 400 tables, I lost track of who's who early. You know who I forgot to ask? CaveTroll at the Heritage booth. He checked for my 55, but I did not think to ask for the 24-D or S. I forgot to add this. I also dropped of an AU 09-SVDB, and a half dozen 09-S's and 31-S's, and about 15 other coins at PCGS as well. I will have pics and slabs when they get here. Several were color Lincolns, I gave up trying to get good pics, so I paid extra for the PCGS trueview. I spent a freakin ton at the PCGS booth. If you can't beat em, join em. Clembo snores. He is sleeping on my couch right now, jet lag and all that driving catching up on him I think. I got a ticket in CA, 85 in a 70. The LB show was the best I have ever attended. I will never miss another, this will become a regular show for me. Blew the ANA away. Our mistake was missing the 1st day. We came in on Friday around 10:am, Dealer day was Wednesday and it opened to public on Thursday, so the show was already professionally picked over by Friday. By the end of the day, a cpl dealers were already packing up. Clembo snores...did I say that? Chris CaveTroll was burried every minute I was there, the Heritage booth was rocking.......lots of auction lot viewing.
Heritage was at TNA also. Their booth was empty - visitors anyway. Either that was because they had no coins, just pamphlets, or because its 15 miles from their headquarters. Anyone for both?
I was there at opening on Thursday, what a mob waiting to get in! Was there today as well, but the momentum was definitely gone, by noon a good fraction had packed up. Lots of kids around, today was the treasure hunt. The Heritage table was still busy though, lots of people scrambling to pick up their lots. I won three out of the four I bid on (internet before live session).
I'll see you in the fall then Acanthite, on day one this time. Last pic of the night...I'm crashin, tired. Gas in California:
