Don't want to win anything this time :) but just in case not everybody has seen my bragging about the Aetna Tetradrachm, have a look here:

Yes. The most precious coin on earth. Unique, "the Mona Lisa in numismatics" etc. etc. And I was allowed to hold it in my hand ...

With the recent acquisition of this 1858 Jersey 1/26 shilling I have completed my pre-decimal Channel Islands collection, with the exception of a rare mule and a number of even rarer tokens.

    Jersey 26th shilling 1858 (3).jpg

It came with the added bonus of a decent grade 1841 1/13 shilling:

    Jersey thirteenth shilling 1841.jpg
Which I desperately needed to upgrade the gap filler I had, which looks as though it's been kicked down a set of concrete steps.

I pulled this 1981-S Proof Quarter from circulation. I have wondered what kind of value such a coin has after being in circulation? Just wonderin'.

Last month I went to a bank I've never used before and got a box of pennies from them, all bank-rolled. Pretty good box, got 22 or 23 wheaties including a few pre-40s, lots of '09s, and a couple Canadians. The other day I went back there and got another box, this time all customer-wrapped. Unfortunately that box wasn't as good as the first.
Only had three wheat pennies: a '42 S, a '44, and a '45. Also had a few Canadians, including a 1950 George VI, and a few other semi-interesting things, but definitely not as good as the first box. Still, I'll probably try another from there. I live in a small town and it's not like I have many other options. Most of the banks around here don't keep any half dollar rolls in stock, let alone boxes. And I've not found any W quarters here. But they tend to be decent for penny hunting, and whenever I do come across a handful of halves, I've had pretty good luck with finding 40%'ers.

    Here's my order of prize preference: 1, 4, 3, 7, 5, 6, 2

Thanks lordmarcovan and thanks to all the donors for making this giveaway possible. Good luck all!

Neato. I briefly thought about a Jersey collection when I saw they make albums for them.

(Pricey albums, to be sure, but quite handsome, and there's a Best Offer option.)

In the end, I decided the last thing i needed would be to go wandering off on yet another tangent, but a fun tangent it would have been...

If it's not noticeably hairlined (that obverse doesn't look so bad, for a circulation find), then it should be worth whatever any comparable proof single is worth (i.e., $2-3-ish in PR63 or so).

    Cool find.

I've got Jersey and Guernsey pretty much in the bag now. There are a few scarce pieces out there but as far as a general circulation set goes I'm complete. First thing I've ever considered "finished".

Wow, doesn't look anything like a proof, aside from the "S" mintmark. Guess that one circulated for a while! Interesting.

    3,4,1 then no preference.

At the bank today and I always ask for halves. They didn't have any today but she offered some SBA dollars. I took 10. Not sure if I'm keeping or spending yet.

    Thanks.
