Hello group. Got a tiny question about a quarter a friend showed me at work. It is a pre state hood clad quarter. The reverse is completely intact but the obverse is missing. In place of old George it appears blank except for some small spiral groves . Now these groves are parallel and and little groups causing a circular pattern all over the surface of the coin. These groves kind of reminds me of those satellite pictures you see of the outer bands of a hurricane. It dose not look like it could have been caused by any kind of sander. I am far from a mechanic and really do not know. . It possible for this kind of damage being done during the minting process? This guy is suppose to send me a picture this weekend and I will try to post it if the group thinks it may be work pursuing. I know this is very little information and if this is "as common as dirt" , then I will go ahead and tell him to let his kid play with this like he was planning to do
