Were there ever any 1933 U.S. quarters?

That’s the excuse, but it does not stop unscrupulous people from trying to cheat non or poorly informed collectors. One might say that these people get what they deserve for not doing their homework, but the fact remains that Carr’s products are well made and deceptive. That is why I am not a fan of non-existent dates for genuine coins, like the 1933 Washington Quarter, that he creates.

One ebay seller shows the shack in which he found a safe full of rare, vintage American coins. There were some ASEs in there too!

wxcoin Getting no respect since I was a baby

I got a couple ok semi key Buffalo nickels from his auction since my bids were reasonable. It seemed that many bids on other coins were high; at least I thought so. I had reservations about even bidding since the condition terminology was strange. Do I believe the story about finding these coins in an old safe? Not really. I file these stories with the unsearched coin rolls which happen to have key dates on the ends.

Your '1933' Quarter is NOT an original Mint Issue.

The first '3' in your coin has been altered from an '8'.

Yes, it says 1933, but it's been changed from another
    date.

Here's another way to prove it - your coin is a clad
quarter (copper core on the edge), and it HAS A 'D'
mintmark where there was no Mintmark on the 1932
or 1934 Washington Quarters - mintmark were on the
back of the coin, below the Eagle, until 1968.

(and in case you don't know, besides the mintmark,
clad coinage didn't start till 1965)

You can rant an rave all you want, but your coin is
an altered 'novelty' item, and not what you apparently
    think it is.

Please believe us, that is an * changed to a 3.

Also, the mintmark was on the reverse back then, yours is on the obverse, to the right of the date. A small D.

    ops, sorry I didn't see Fred's post.
