Would believe this falls under LDS but how would I describe rim strike above the word IN and is the anomaly between letters L & I in Liberty part of it? Thanks for the help..
The rim around the edge is called a Ridge Ring. It's caused by a very worn die. You have what is called a 1955 Poor man's doubled die. You can tell by the Die Deterioration Doubling noticeable by the last 5 in the date. Also, it appears there's several die cracks on the obverse. In Lincoln's hair and on the lower part of the bust. (Another indication of an overused die).
Thank you, I want to be as informative as I can in catalog book I am comprising for my sons so as they go through it they will hopefully appreciate the beauty of the workmanship in the early coin process.
