I just found this 1964-D Kennedy half in my collection. I am not familiar with these. I see some on Ebay.

    1. Is it a true DDO?

    2. What is it worth?

    Thank you!

Does the word TRUST look like this?

It looks somewhat like that, but I don't think as extreme. Not sure. Also, there may be more doubling on "In God" than in "We Trust". Here are a couple more pictures from my scanner as opposed to camera photos before.

It looks promising. I'll say yes, looks like a winner! Nice find! icon_smile_thumbsup.gif

Value? It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

If that's the case, then what is the point of this "What's it Worth?" forum?

Don't know how current this is: https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1964-d-50c-ddo/86707
You can check eBay for past auction prices. Or, what they're selling for now, if any is listed. From your photos I couldn't even guess at the grade which has a lot to do with it's value.

    Thanks Thomas,

Not sure how it would grade either. Condition is very good regarding circulation/wear and tear. But it has some spots on it, mainly on the right side of the obverse. I am mostly interested in what a DDO coin like this would be worth, let's say if it were graded at MS-63 or even 65. If it is worth $50 graded then forget it. If $200 then maybe.

You've only shown us half of the coin. You can't grade half of a coin. What makes you think it will grade MS, anyway? If it is a doubled die, you need to have it authenticated or at least be able to identify the DDO or DDR yourself.

It wouldn't be worth $50 to me. The melt value is just over $5. A dealer would probably give you less.

icon_smile_agree.gif with my above colleagues. These Doubled Dies would have to grade high MS for any significance. Right now? 20 or 30 bucks, maybe.

Condition condition condition and we can’t tell from partial images. The scanned image is good now let’s see the whole coin, obverse and reverse, cropped and oriented properly. Then you’ll get more accurate help.

Look like bag marks to me. $6 value

Looks like the tripled die, FS-103 to me. In that condition it wouldn't be worth much more than melt. Go to this website-http://varietyvista.com/index.htm-to see a partial list of the doubled dies known for this date.

I personally am not seeing any doubling. The quality of the photos aren't sufficient to tell much. The lighting is creating a light and dark area on the letters. Value, melt price IMO.

...waiting for better pix... @Mountain Man ...the doubling is there, rough looking coin. Trying to match Wexler or VV at the moment...Spark
Update: the closest match is WDDO-003/Wexler. Die stage may account for differences...Wexlers may be EDS, the OP coin medium to LDS...Spark

The prev. post was very general...without the coin in hand and the lack of suitable pictures limits any kind of decent assessment...Spark

Most Kennedy collectors only want high grade coins in their collections...MS64 or better...not much value for circulated examples.

    Thanks Chris,

Sorry about that. Here are some more pictures. There are a couple of the entire coin.

The coin appears at least AU to me (to the naked eye), but with magnification, it of course doesn't look that great!

I'm fine with it being not worth much. It's just that I have not seen many of these around.
