I just got through looking into the discovery IKE that Mont here found and also the one Rick found. Great posts and threads for sure!

Like every nerd around, I actually think i may have something here. I am trying to find photos and so far only been able to find "descriptions" of the markers and soforth. Can anyone help me find pictures of these awesome coins???? I would like to compare mine to them to eliminate my possibility.

I was going to wait to continue the research but Ill go ahead and post some. By the way, the full shots look "blue" due to the reflection of my nearby laptop screen. The relief is so high on the coin it catches it making it look kind of cool. Can someone verify if this is the "3rd" earth type on reverse?

Let me see what I can find. My camera stopped working so I can't shoot new photos but I believe I uploaded a bunch of photos on another site.

I can see some notching in IGWT on yours. This is actually kinda common on Ikes as you will notice the more you look at them. The question is, is the notching severe enough? That is hard to tell with the clarity of your close-ups.

Thanks for replying Mont!!!! Right from the man himself!!!!!

My camera HATES new coins. I fight with reflection and try to get the most compelling pictures I can. I will try to get some better ones.

    Not a problem

Here are some photos of mine I found.
You can see the doubling in the bottom right side of the I and both legs of the N. Also in T and R
    Ike1.JPG

    Ike3.JPG

This one show it in the top of the S and top and bottom of the right side of the T
    Ike4.JPG
There is notching in the top and middle leg of the E
    Ike5.JPG

And Mr Wexler did not show this one but take a look at the bottom of the 4, this is also notched
    Ike6.JPG

You can find a photo of the "marker" for this coin on Wexlers site. It is listed as 1974-D $1 WDDO-002 here http://doubleddie.com/2306337.html.

Is the top of the "G" a marker of some sort? I noticed it on Wexlers (yours ...lol, weird) and mine has it too.

Also, do you know where Ricks is at? His has an odd thing like IDDDO or something different. I only could find written description and not any pictures for that one.

I tried to get some better pictures but Im not sure they are much better. One thing Ive learned over the 3 years or so of part timing this is that if I take too many pictures and it takes me this long, generally speaking, nothings there. However, I dont ever have uncirculated coins either so this might be the exception to my world.

If it were.."if"...what would the value on one like this be? I would love to be able to write it on the envelope for my grandson for when he gets this someday.

No that is part of the doubling. The only markers on mine are on the reverse. There are die scratches to the right of the M in UNUM.

I tried to photograph on an angle to get the shadow of it. Head on with this camera its hard to see. Kind of runs around the dot between the M and the dot.

I zoomed in to the top of that "G". I cant even tell what the heck Im seeing. It looks weird. I zoomed into the "O" and that makes sense looking doubled. The G almost appears trippled? I dont know.

I see some doubling in the ear too. I got some other pictures of the S and T. My coin looks different somehow.

From looking at the photos of the 1 and 7 on your coin I can tell you that it does not match mine. Yours has notching in the 1 mine does not. The 7 looks way different from mine and kinda looks like MD.

Rick...I would sincerely appreciate it. If theres a chance I have one of your coins, that is something I really want to know. More importantly is your opinion because Im just not good enough to see some of these things. I can look at pictures all day. I try to use my research to "eliminate" a coin. I think some things match quite well but Im trying to find what doesnt. This is such a tough hobby lol. If it were a coin like yours I would need some advice on what to do next? Send it for grading? Pack it up and leave it? What would be the best thing to do with it? Does it have a significant value? Sorry for so many questions.
