Could it be a 69 S?

Found this coin roll hunting that was super filthy and I could only see the 9 and it looked majorly doubled. So I did what you are never supposed to do and soaked it in distilled water and this is what I found. Is it the real deal? 15713169866838786188307385287434.jpg CM191017-054813005.jpg CM191006-020349010.jpg CM191006-020349010.jpg

It's not true doubling. Looks more like wear/damage from 50 years in circulation.

There is no machine doubling, either!

If you're going to search for errors & varieties, it would benefit you immensely if you learned to identify the differences between machine doubling and true hub doubling. There have been dozens and dozens of photos posted that you could save for references.

Really? You are going to have a hard time convincing anyone that it is exactly alike. Because it is not.

Remember what I said.. It all has to look like the image I provided.. Did you even look at the rest of it. Come on buddy. It's very simple. Yours is not a doubled die.

You're right in that your coin looks exactly like the other 544,375,000 that were struck that year in San Francisco.

If you start acting like a fool, everyone will take you for a fool.

Copper is a very soft metal, and each number in the date has been damaged by some kind of pressure during its life time in circulation. The last '9' you can see the dents in it easily. Doubling can't be determined by just the shape of the number, but how it got that way. No doubling, but the internet has multiple authoritative sites on coin doubling. Beware there are multiple 'salesmen' on video channels that are only increasing subscriptions and know enough about coins to make finding a fortune easy. It's not...unfortunately. Jim

Well, yes, it's a 1969-S. No, it's not even close to a Doubled Die.

Same issue over the years.. The numeral 9 has a bit of MD or DDD and people automatically label it a DDO .. It gets tiring

Yes it does. The slightest sign of doubling and we have an undiscovered error when it's worthless doubling or NAV.

Wow, with your eye sight, I'm surprised you didn't identify it as an "S 6961". :D
