Ed who are these Clinton people you keep on talking about? I thought it was a park in the Bronx.

Stamps have a ten year rule but then again I once saw Snoopy on a stamp so maybe we shouldn't use stamps as examples.

Lincoln liked to wrestle, why not have him doing that on a coin to get the young people interested in the hobby. Could have different Lincoln coins doing different holds or should I say "no holds bar".

Why not use more action shots in our coins, never mind the Lincoln joke. Hey Georgie fought in the French and Indian War or Queen's Annes war and in the Revolution but outside of that Quarter that has him crossing the Delaware river, his head is just sitting there. Have a coin showing a George Washington with a sword flying overhead in one hand and a beer in the other, he liked to drink remember his farewell to arms moment happened in a Tavarn in Manhatten ,as he sits atop a steed that's standing upright on two hoofs over a broken royal crown.

Now that's the ticket to having a good coin minted.

Aidan, Garfield got shot a long time ago. It happened when he was on his way to the Jersey shore but his stomach couldn't handle it, I mean the bullet. I myself never went to the shore but to the Hamptons for the only thing that went off there was corks.

Yes you bring up a good point Aiden but some conspirators say that one of the presidents in the 1840s or 1850s was poisened to death but I can't remember who he is. James Garfield was shot in 1881 by a disgruntled French worker over here over a job position if I am not mistaken and Garfield died several months later of infection, in November of that year and so did his assassin if you get my drift. I did a report on him a few years ago. You all have interesting ideas about what should happen with the coins but I think the mint should change back the relief on the coins. http://www.coinpeople.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10

If ya'll are going to be writing Washington about this also add in your letter about getting the "ban" on the 1933 $20 gold peice lifted....if the Gov did it once I bet they can find a way to do it again...(ban gold that is)

I read in an article a while back that seven are believed to be authentic and privately held - but the seventh one wasn't verified yet...

I'll have to find the article again.

There were 7 or at least that is what we are told, all but the one that was sold at auction were recovered by the government.

The only reason that that one was allowed to be auction was because it was actually given to some saudi king .with legitimate paper work.

Well...did you write your representative? It may be cute and all to joke about which President deserves or does not deserve to be on our dollar coins, but the fact of the matter is if we don't let our voices be heard, they are going to mint dollar coins with the mug of ALL of the presidents, good and bad!...then we will surely be known as a Banana Republic.

    What a shame. :(

It was intended to everybody! I just wanted to make the point before the discussion turned to the $7.2 million double eagle.

I still think it would be nice if they paid homage to the presidents who gave their life as a result of serving their country...

No in point of fact I haven't. Hehe my main interest with this is them changing the relief back to what it was and should still be and I don't have much feelings either way about the presidents being on coins so...
