Need help with large medal: Dubrovnik 1893

I have had this medal for over fifty years. Several times over the years, including recently on Google, I've tried to discover its history. No luck; hoping the CT folks will be able to help (@cpm9ball and others). The medal is 49-50 mm and weighs 49 gms.
