Can someone please let me know what I got and it’s worth? It appears that the word “liberty” from the dime is ever so faint. Also the very center of the coin is imprinted to the size of a dime! Any comments are appreciated! Thanks
Well, I fail to see what you are seeing. Assuming it's not a spoof coin, what I do see is an extremely abused & corroded zinc cent, on its last legs, so to speak. It has the appearance of exposure to something acidic & perhaps at the same time, it was nestled against another coin. It appears the copper is starting to peal away along the entire edge on the obverse. You would be well advised to spend it before it completely disintegrates into thin air. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Not a major mint error.. Just a corroded cent. Just garbage!.. Not even worth 1 cent. You need to learn what true mint errors are.. Don't assume that something that looks different or strange is automatically an error
Seeing the "1986 penny MAJOR ERROR" title to this thread, I somehow accurately guessed what I would see when I opened it.
Damage is not an error. Damage is much more common than real errors. Most real errors have a little value, but not a lot.
Sadly its physical value is closer to 1/2 cent. You might be able to pass it off as change and still get full value.
