Error or variety?

    Out of a box of 2019 BU pennies, I found approximately 200 with this identical forehead crack. Does that make this a variety or just a lot were made with this error before being caught? 20191007_124123.jpg 20191007_124114.jpg

    That's a die crack. And you found over 200 of them. If you look carefully at them you may be able to show the progression of the die crack. As the Die continues in use the crack grows larger, wider or longer.

    Get out your 10x and be prepared to spend time looking at them.

    I did see a range in strength of the crack. I figured I would sell them by the roll.

    You should keep a few sets showing the progression. A few years from now you'll be glad you did. Maybe even give a set to each grandchild.
