I recently parted with my other Constans/Hut at a recent JA auction because I was interested in getting a better one. After a long wait I finally got one for less than the auction coin for & it turns out to be a fairly scarce issue. I found very few examples of the type. My Photo Constans (337 - 350 A.D. Æ Centenionalis O: D N CONSTANS P F AVG, laureate draped bust left holding globe. R: FEL TEMP REPARATIO, soldier walking right, spear downwards, leading captive from hut under a tree. Nice new addition @Mat . These are fun coins with an interesting reverse design. Plus, it’s always nice to pick up a scarce coin. I bought mine from John... is this possibly an ex Mat coin? Nice big flan on that new hut @Mat Constans ,348-351 AD, AE3 O: DN CONSTANS PF AVG, Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust left holding globe, R: FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Soldier dragging young barbarian from hut beneath tree of one branch with millet-like head with a multi-leaved stalk on each side. I ignore the concept of rarity in these coins because I am not trying to get a full set of them. There was a time I was trying to get one from each mint for each ruler. I don't even remember how many there are in the set (guess 22?). I fell short by two Constans and two Constantius. You found one of my four. I don't know where I stand now since I have been selling off quite a few late Romans that I had forgotten why I ever bought so some may have leaked out. Constans Siscia Constantius Rome

Nice pick up, @Mat ! NEAT "depression glass" patina! I like the colors flowing. And, I do not believe it: I have a Hut coin from Constans... my ONLY hut. I am chasing after a mint set for both emperors too. Though I have also appear to have lost track of where I am. I have a mint set for Constans...... Though I must admit to having more than one for most mints. Alexandria Antioch Aquileia (could do with an upgrade...) Arles Constantinople Cyzicus Heraclea Lugdunum Nicomedia Siscia Thessalonica Trier Imitative (of Trier) I am 4 cities short on my Constantius II set
I love the mystery surrounded these. Who is the figure? Is it a child? A barbarian? Is it the personification of the Roman people being led out of the dangerous wilderness by the glorious emperor or by the Roman army? Is the figure coming willingly or is he a captive? What is the relationship of the imagery to the inscription? Why don't I get a life? I could spend hours pondering these questions. That's probably a problem.
