Did anyone notice on the Mint web site that they will be offering an Enhanced Reverse Proof ASE later this year? https://catalog.usmint.gov/american-eagle-one-ounce-silver-enhanced-reverse-proof-19XE.html I have to assume this is the same coin offered in the Pride of Two Nations set. Or could it be with a different mint mark? Either way I’m done with the Mint. $140 dollars for the PoTN set for the ASE since few if any collectors wanted the Maple Leaf. That was outrageous enough and now this....
I'm done with the US Mint myself. Too much junk coming out. I wonder if someone from Franklin Mint has taken the job as Superintendent. I have ASE's from when it started in 1986, and they aren't worth as much as when I bought them. It is all a gimmick to get rid of unwanted raw material and make a big profit while they are at it.
I am old and not into multi-letter acronyms. I see this FIFY a lot. I think it is a good response, but am not sure. Do you mind telling me what it means. Thanks.
I think it would have to be a different mint mark because that Two Nations offering had a montage limit.
That's a good trick, back in 86 the bullion coins were $6 or $7 and the proofs were around $23. You must have purchased them many years later when silver was considerably higher.
I agree. But, I was thinking collectively since I do have so many of them. But, you are probably right, and, I know I've been told a thousand times not to exaggerate. Feedback is good.
The pride of 2 nations ASE has a "W" West Point mint mark. Enhanced Reverse Proof ASE will have the "S" mint mark,At least I thought I saw that someplace. I could be wrong. Any how I Really hope it's a "D" mint mark. Now that would be something.
I noticed that about a month ago and went on their on-line chat. I asked if it is the same coin and was told that no info was available. I am done if it is the same coin.
So the US Mint is reverse proofing the Enhanced strike? So, all of the mirrored areas on the Enhanced Proof are "normal", and vice versa? What's next? A burnished, enhanced, reverse proof, antiqued finish, high relief strike?
Correct, it will be struck in San Francisco, not West Point, as shown on page 10 of this thread: https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=332786&whichpage=10
I really like the ASE reverse proofs. Guess it’ll depend on how much they want for it and if there’s any Mintage limit.
