A fellow enthusiast of ours has a 500 box challenge underway which should produce some exciting results. About 4 years ago I was curious to see how complete a set of Jefferson Nickels I could establish in a year - my 2015 challenge. My goal was to keep the best condition coin for a date/mm. I averaged about a box every two weeks, so only 25 or so boxes (I hunt for varieties). In the end, I found 165 out of 174 nickels including a few impaired proofs and a MS1950D (unfortunately, marred by a counter/roller on the reverse). I personally find CRH of nickels to be the most productive and entertaining. Here are the pages from the first volume of Jefferson Nickels. Thanks Larry. Folks can build a complete set from CRH and pocket finds (Jefferson Nickels). The reality is that by the 3rd or 4th box, a collector could be at 80% complete if they didn't care about grade of coin. But with being picky a little, that mark can be achieved with F-VF coins for 30s and early 50s and VF-BU coins there after. In my firsts set, most everything from 1950 forward are AU or better finds

Absolutely true! These last 11 boxes I've completed have given me a few already BU 50s coins. I wouldn't see why after 500+ boxes I couldn't have a almost complete high AU/BU set!
