Is it possible too attribute a coin too which you can not see the date at all? I have a SLQ-S mint mark and no date, is it worth it too take time too take a pic of it too find out if someone can in fact attribute it too narrow down the date? thanks, john
First you can tell if it's a type 1 or type 2 . The hair will tell you on tpye 1 the hair is more flipped out , were as a type 2 the hair turns in on the bottom .this will narrow it down to 1916 or 17 if tpye 1 , also type 2 has chain mail armor , & a collar around the neck . I heard there was a way to help raise the date but I'm not sure how , maybe someone else can help . rzage
im not sure but i think it is only possible on BHN's but i will just post pics too see what you guys can determine.
There are lots of little design changes that can identify a coin. This is especially true on later date coins. There aren't many markers on the SLQ that I can identify and relatively few for the series.
I suspect it will be nearly impossible to date this coin unless it has a die crack or some other distinguising mark...>mike
Type 2 , I forgot the easiest way to tell is the 3 stars under the eagle , as for date , I'll leave that up to the experts . Good luck . rzage
I'd say also that its type 2, as zrage said, because of the stars under the eagle. Since its a type 2 I'd also venture to say that it has to be between the dates of 1918 to 1924 when the date wasnt quite recessed enough to protect it from wear. There are actually three types of SLQs. From 1925 to 1930 the date was recessed and protected more from wear.
