Need help identifying. I believe it is a Constantine II, but do not know which variety. Any responses most appreciated.
Explain why you decided on Constantine II rather than Constantine I. The coin is clear with the legend identifying Jupiter and the mintmark reading Kyzicus. When seeking an ID, it is often helpful first to define the reverse and then consider only those people who issued that type.
thank you for the comment. I originally believed it to be Constantine II because of the crown that is featured on the portrait. I have a lot of Constantine II's with this identical crown.
He has a diadem (not a crown). The obverse legend ends "AVG". The reverse ends "AVGG" for two Augusti, Constantine and Licinius. Constantine II was Caesar 317-337 and not Augustus until 337. The OP coin was issued long before that. It is of Constantine I ("The Great"). A Constantine II of the period (this one from Alexandria) looks like this: with obverse ending NOB C (for Noble Caesar if Nobilis, or Most Noble Caesar if Nobilissimus) and the reverse legend ends CAESS (for Caesars Licinius II, Crispus, and Constantine II).
