Here is a link to a video of it (second screen...one needs to scroll past the photo) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2gopxegoP8/?igshid=273812v8m5br I believe the photo makes it look brighter and more vivid than the in hand look. The color is NT in my opinion.
Has this one been used before? It looks like one @ron_c had posted (I believe he had similar naming tags at the bottom). If it’s his photo, then I would trust the accuracy of the photo.
Lol, as we get older, the memories can start to fade. Check out Page 54..... I was hoping no one noticed the repeat.
I didn’t notice at first, but the full slab picture with the name gave it away. It’s interesting to note that I guessed lower than the first time. I’ve also become less of a fan of the color now (it’s still NT, but it’s no longer as interesting due to my “refined” toner tastes ).
Here is something different (I don’t believe I posted it before)...how much did this Carr Indian Head Overstrike cost me? Video: https://www.instagram.com/p/B1H-fgBg4sU/?igshid=2ktluo05sfwf
I'm assuming you bought it slabbed already? If so, I'll guess $150. FYI to others guessing here: if you think this token looks AT, that's because it is. Dan Carr toned some of them before he sold them.
Some clarifications: I bought it already slabbed and on eBay. @Paul M. is correct that it was toned by Dan Carr ...now is it still AT if the “mint” intended to tone it?
Absifrikenlutely !!!!! But, as intended from the manufacturer, makes all the difference. I'm sticking with my original guess, and reasoning though. I have purchased a couple of Dan's pieces from the bay.... a silver Cobb (raw, 38 grams), and a friendship token of some sort, both for fair prices. (can't remember) ??? anyway, I've seen that most Moonlight Mints products either hold their value, or increase, sometimes greatly increase. (I need to transfer my pics to my new device.)
IMO, yes, it's still AT, but not QC. If it was done by Dan Carr before the piece was sold, then it's not "questionable" in any sense, but he definitely didn't let them sit in an album for a few years to get those colors. Because it was done intentionally by the producer before sale, that obviously shouldn't block a straight grade. That's pretty much the only scenario I can think of where even obvious AT should not preclude a straight grade.
Yes, it’s correctly straight graded because it was toned intentionally by Dan Carr before it was sold. In other words, it’s “as minted.”
***I interrupt this current coin for the following announcement***** @Johndoe2000$ guess what is back up for sale? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1906-Barbe...928880?hash=item44476a5c30:g:OZ0AAOSwT5RdFnDQ Yep it’s that same 1906 Barber from page 323 of this thread...take caution if anyone is bidding on it. ****And now back to your scheduled programming*****
Lol. I can sure pick them huh. But... not entirely unexpected... I talk too much. I had to go back 3 pages to find those quotes.
