I am having the same problem with flips. While I usually use 2x2s and binders to store my coins, I have started collecting a date set of ICCS graded Canada Silver Dollars. As we all know ICCS coins are in sealed flips. The problem I am having is I can't find any pages that will let me insert the coin with the flip in the open position. This will allow me to read the ICCS info and view the whole coin without removing from page. Anyone ever heard of pages that will let you store flips that way? On another note. I too have a problem with 2x2s slipping out of pages. I figured there was nothing I could do about this and from what I reading here there isn't. I do have a suggestion though. My way of making sure I do not lose any coins from my binders is in the binders I use. All my binders that store 2x2s have that ability to zip closed. This way if a coin slips out of its page it stays in the binder.
Great points. Thing is I have many, many coins. I've hoarded everything coin roll hunting and many other nominally valuable coins. I have many that certainly deserve an extra 50 cents for sure but to spend all that 'extra' cash on storage means versus spending that same money on coins themselves is where I come down because I'm cheap. I guess I'm thinking that they're just fine being stored as they sit. Still, I look for cheaper methods as it irks me to spend too much on individual storage means.
I bought a bunch of plastic coin tubes for different sizes. I take, for instance, all my wheat cents from the 40's and put them in one tube (sometimes I need more than one). I have done similar with Liberty Nickels, Barber and Mercury Dimes. All extra coins. I mark them on the lid. When one of those kids, grandkids or great grandkids needs certain coins or I'm making a set for someone I just dump them on my desk and pull out the ones I need. I am including a photo of one of my boxes with cents in it.
Yeah I've got many filled tubes too. Tons of wheat cents pulled out of circulation over the years stored there separated by years in the tubes. That too got cumbersome. Now I have piles of tubes AND giant pickle jars full of wheaties (separated by decade) as well as flips, albums, and many other cute little containers all piled on top of each other in a safe. The goal was to go through all the wheats searching for varieties but there they sit.
I do understand. That's one reason I decided to build collections for the great grand kids. I have tubs and buckets too.
I like the look of all that and the dedication. Guess I'm just not that motivated. I need your services.
