Pretty good find. Meow has yet to find one like it. Obverse ones don't seem to come up often. But the reverse die clashes are fairly common.

Not an error, but nice to see modern clashes. They've done a good job cutting their manufacture down.

What? Die clashes are mint errors o_O

Nope. An error is an issue with the coin. Doubled dies and over-polished dies (like a '37-D 3-legged Buffalo) are varieties. Errors are unique from coin to coin.

So you say a Die Clash is not a mint error?
    Wow.. I totally disagree.

I understand what you mean but that does not apply to clashes.

That I aquired for my collection.
The Label states Mint Error -

Folks will always argue what these are called. I just call them a clashed die coin.
It's interesting that the CHERRYPICKERS GUIDE TO RARE DIE VARIETIES, has a few clashed die coins listed in the book. Fun stuff.

I haven't run into a clear as day clash die in my life. Just not lucky when it comes to that. Hope to find some one day. Nice job finding that one

I saw your gold eagle avatar, looks like the same eagle on my 1858 flying eagle cent. Is it off of one of your gold coins?

It's from the Flying Eagle cent. I don't collect much in gold.

Then half of my Morgan Dollars are errors!

I guess I just need to send them in as "error" and pay an extra fee.

I don't know how many Morgan's you own.. Do you have 2? And 1 is a clash? o_O

I don't know much about morgans but i think the VAM attribution was created for them ;)

And I believe it's the same fee amount for Mint Error and Variety so I don't get your statement.

PCGS will not say it's an error unless it is, in their opinion, what they consider to be an error.

You can't simply pay more to have them say whatever you want them to, especially if PCGS doesn't agree with your statement.

To prove your point, why don't you send it in to PCGS? I can almost guarantee they're not going to call certain VAMs errors; they will call it a VAM
