This is a wierd one! It has a ball serif(006)punched over a tall mint mark(008) variety vista. Any thoughts?

Re-punch mint marks were more common with the 1974s as opposed to 1973 and 1975. To have a different design punched on top of the normal design for that year is very unusual. Hand punched mint marks before 1990 were suseptical to human error. I will have it checked out and authenticated.

I assume the first 2 photos are your coin and the other photos are from someplace else. The photo of your coin ( if the first) has no where near the resolution to say yay or nay, except it is an S of some kind. You are correct it is very unusual, in fact I have not heard or read of one for 1974S , nor I can't recall such for any year lincoln cent. Yes, the mint used different mint marks in a certain transition year, but as I recall, but can't find immediately, there was great care in replacing one type with the other, so a few wouldn't pop up the following year accidentally or on-purpose. But a RPM, with 2 separate types of marks~let me know if you have info. Jim

The collage lower left is my coin, other 2 are examples of the ball serif. Bottom are 2 different angles of my coin.
