No h No, he's not. For low number in single digits $40-$50 is about right for new non-circulated issues. I'd keep until the next version of that series bill is released it will double.
If anyone knows of any single digit US note (00000001-00000009) in XF-AU condition for $40-$50 over face, regardless of denomination, please send them my way.
FYI...Go to the forums listing, scroll all the way down. St the end is a short selection for members. That's where CT members can buy and sell. There is a forum for WANT LISTS. You may get a better response posting your wants there.
I posted that bill on craigslist in NY with asking price 1K and got one respond with 400$ offer. That's why I ask You guys on this forum what could be worth
Bottom line, something is only worth what someone else is going to pay for It, forget about the asking price, that means nothing, i can ask a million Dollars for one of my pop one notes but that doesnt mean i will get it...LOL
Another low low serial $100 note has turned up: http://forums.wheresgeorge.com/show...ifetime!-2009-A-100-Bill-Serial-LH-00000003-A. The members on the forum over there tend to be more astute and experienced in assessing accurate values of notes like these than on this one so it will be interesting to see what kind of possible value it may be given by them.
That seems kind of low. Even for a recent bill. I've seen 63's for older bills go for anywhere from $700 - $1,200. I think for a single-digit recent $100 bill, you are probably talking a few hundred bucks.
Did you check to see if they had the numbers directly above and below this? 00000007 and 00000008 would have probably been more desirable.
Older bills will run you 4-digits, 5-figures if it is #1 or #2 and maybe #3. Even recent bills from the last 10 years go for 2-4x face value. And I have to believe that a large number (majority ?) of SN's < 1,000 are preserved by folks who know their worth to collectors.
I myself looked at low SN's and solids for recent bills....I thought I might be able to get one for a modest premium to FV for a $20/$50/$100...but no chance. Double, Triple, Quadruple FV depending on how many solid #'s and/or how low the SN. Maybe they will appreciate in the future, but I think collectors may be thinking that they will move up as much as bills from 40 or 60 or 80 years ago. I don't think so as (1) more such rarities are preserved making them NOT that rare (2) moderns may not have the "cache" that older bills had for various reasons so appreciation may not happen (3) The Baseball Card Phenomenon whereby there is too many of something to move up. So people paying 2x or 3x or 4x or 5X for bills less than 10 years old for low SN's or solids or other unique SN's may be disappointed. If you buy these, YOU better like the bill. It may not be as well liked at a premium in the future by someone you are looking to sell it to.
