Ok guys (and gals)...so I’m about 99% positive I got a small date this time! When I first weighed it it came out to 3.10 but now that I’m weighing it again it’s coming out to 2.55 so I know that changes things quite a bit. I don’t know how my scale could be off perfectly enough to come out to 3.10 other than my scale having some fun with me...very strange. I got it calibrated correctly now and no doubt it’s 2.55. Considering the grade & not being on copper, I’m not holding my breath on this one but am interested to see what you all think.
It's a small date. You can see some plating blisters which indicates it's zinc, not copper. The zinc cents weigh 2.50 gms, so you're within tolerance
Denver only made 1982 small dates in zinc. (2.5 grams) It's true two off metal (copper) coins have been found, but it's really a long shot. I was always optimistic about someone finding a 2nd coin, and that happened sooner than I imagined. They made 17 billion coins that year. What ever video you saw that said there's a fortune in your pocket change, there really isn't. Captain Bubble Burst
