Found this in my bills over the weekend. Amazing that it's over 50 years old and in crisp brand new condition.

Well, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but, although it "appears" to you to be in "crisp brand new condition", it is not.

Agreed, it is in great condition for a circulated note, but as it is (Caveat: lacking any other idiosyncrasy), that is not "collectable", as far as collectors are concerned. Paper condition is everything regarding acceptability.

This doesn't mean you can't keep it. Nice catch!

Thanks. Yes, I never think much of anything I come across in general circulation is worth anything special or even over face value. I've collected coins for most of my life and I know lots of older people who collect as well. And I do know that this bill is not a collector condition item. But what I am quite impressed with is that I can find a bill well over 50 years old in general circulation that is in this great of shape. And that's precisely why I'm posting it up on here. Notice I didn't ask "how much is this worth"? That to me is irrelevant. I'm at awe over how old it is and that it is in such great shape for it's age.

I'm guessing someone stuck it in a book or something similar for some reason or the other. Since it's a 63', I'm guessing it is quite possible someone set it aside since it's the year Kennedy was assassinated. Just a guess. I had found a 1963D mint $1 bill in the same pristine shape a few years ago in general circulation and though that whoever saved it, did so because of the same reason. I held onto it for a few months and then spent it. I guess I get tired of just having it sitting in a drawer at home.

Nooooo….keep this one...it only cost you a buck, & as you indicated, it's an awesome circulation find. I like the bookmark idea!

Aside: Often, when I gift my grandkids a book, I'll inscribe it to them personally, then insert a $5 or $10 bill somewhere inside. They love getting books! :hilarious:
