I've been researching trying to find a reference to this error with no luck. Any suggestions on where I can find one? Or what this coin could be worth due to struck through error?
You're not going to find any information for it because it is a "one-of-a-kind" common error. Once the coin is struck, the foreign substance usually falls away from the surface of the die and never recurs. It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It's only worth 50c to me. Chris
That's a nice strike through. Certainly worthy of keeping. To some is worth face value, to others they will pay a small premium. Since you found it, it should be priceless.
Chris is correct in his explanation. It would be a keeper for me as they almost always are one of a kind.
Oh yes I plan on keeping a majority of the coins I inherited. Only to give a few to my children. Putting a value on them will be strictly for insurance purposes.
How many times are you going to post this coin? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1969d-kennedy-dollar-coin.347307/#post-3725427
1 less time than you already have? JK, post it as often as you like until you get the answers to your questions! Happy hunting!
